About Marylin

Marylin Mello is a violist and music educator based in Baltimore, MD. She has performed with ensembles across the USA, as well as globally in Germany and France. Alongside a freelance career, she is a member of the Washington Chamber Orchestra and enjoys frequent engagements with Peabody and Johns Hopkins ensembles. Outside of the classical music sphere, she has performed with Grammy award-winning “The 8-Bit Big Band”, which specializes in jazz arrangements of video game music, and served as Principal Viola and Vice President of the Studio Orchestra of Long Beach, which performed exciting genre diverse concerts.

As an educator she teaches an enthusiastic private studio of viola and violin students, who also perform with ensembles such as The Young Musicians of Baltimore and Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestras. She has also had the pleasure of leading students in youth programs and public schools in chamber and orchestral repertoire. Marylin holds degrees from The Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University and The Bob Cole Conservatory at CSU Long Beach, having primarily studied with Victoria Chiang and Jason Bonham respectively.
